TAGAYTAY CITY, CAVITE – A cool climate and the world famous Taal Volcano are not the only attractions for tourists visiting Tagaytay. It is also ideal for horseback riding, picnic, camping, and sightseeing.
On a short weekend daytrip, here a few more things you must do on a visit to Tagaytay:
Visit the Mahogany Market. This market is known for selling a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers and high-quality beef sourced from a nearby slaughterhouse. A row of “turo-turo” restaurants near the market is a popular dining place if you want to eat authentic “bulalo.” For the more adventurous, you can also try “Soup No. 5” that some restaurants here offer.
Buy desserts and other “pasalubong” from roadside stalls. Many roadside stores along Aguinaldo Highway offer a variety of sweets and desserts made primarily of coconut. You can buy “buko” tart from Amira’s Buko Tart or other delicacies from Rowena’s.
Pray at the Pink Sisters Chapel. Many visitors go to this chapel to hear mass or say a short prayer at the Adoration Convent of Divine Mercy. There are boxes on both sides of the chapel where you can drop a piece of paper with written prayers.
Go to the Palace in the Sky. This is now called “People’s Park” and is located in Mt. Sungay, which is said to be one of the highest points in Tagaytay. Historians say the building was constructed in the 1970s and was actually a mansion or a guesthouse for then President Marcos but was never used.
With its proximity to Metro Manila, Tagaytay continues to be one of the most popular destinations in Cavite particularly on weekends.
